At the Y, we believe swimming can be a fun and essential part of a healthy lifestyle and that every child should have the opportunity to learn how to be safe around water. Our Swim Starters program (Stages A & B) introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through games and songs. Our Swim Basics program (Stages 1 – 3) teaches basic self-rescue skills and comfort with underwater exploration. Our Swim Strokes program (Stages 4 – 6) builds stroke technique and fosters a lifetime of physical activity.
Canoe City Swim Club
The Canoe City Swim Club is the Old Town – Orono YMCA’s year-round competitive swim team. Our program emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development while working with athletes to improve stroke mechanics, endurance, race strategy, and confidence in and out of the pool. From young swimmers curious about the sport to high school aged athletes looking to compete in college and beyond, we are committed to helping all children reach their full potential in the water and in our community.
Aqua Group Exercise
The Old Town – Orono YMCA offers a wide range of aqua fitness group exercise classes for all ages and ability levels. Join our certified instructors in the pool for a fun and challenging workout.
