At the Old Town Orono YMCA, we believe everyone should have access to our programs and services. Whether you’re interested in memberships, child care, or other programs, we’re here to support you and your family.
The Canoe City Swim Club is our year-round competitive swim team, offered at both our Old Town-Orono and Piscataquis Regional YMCA locations. While practices are held separately, our teams come together to compete, fostering a strong sense of community and teamwork. Our program emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development, working with athletes to improve stroke mechanics, endurance, race strategy, and confidence in and out of the pool.
With the guidance of our trained coaches, swimmers of all ages and abilities enhance their skills, build endurance, and embrace a healthy lifestyle. Teams are organized by skill level to help members master the four competitive strokes, starts, and finishes. From young swimmers curious about the sport to high school athletes aiming to compete in college and beyond, we provide a safe and supportive environment where all children can reach their full potential.
Our swim team practices multiple times a week and competes in meets year-round, both with other Ys and swim clubs. All swim team participants must be Y members to join.
