Open Doors Scholarship

The Old Town-Orono YMCA is a non-profit membership organization committed to building strong communities, families, and individuals through programs that promote a healthy spirit, mind, and body for everyone. That is why we offer our Open Doors Program, review applications on an individual basis and offer discounts on memberships or programs.  We believe no one should be denied membership due to financial circumstances.  Financial assistance is made possible through charitable donations to our scholarship fund.

The Old Town-Orono YMCA believes that a strong sense of ownership and pride is developed if members have contributed to the cost of their YMCA involvement. Therefore, Open Doors applicants are asked to pay a portion of the membership dues. In order to continue to provide financial assistance to others, your portion of the scholarship may be subject to increase when you reapply.

Open Doors memberships are approved for an annual period, effective January 1st, 2013; all scholarships will be subject to a six month review for income eligibility. A down payment is required when you activate your membership.  If you choose to reapply, you must reapply by completing the Open Doors application before your Membership expiration. If your membership lapses or you have a past balance, you will not be able to use our facilities until you are re-instated. By accepting the Scholarship and activating your Membership, you are signing a contract to pay the full balance within the Scholarship year. No Exceptions!!!! Outstanding balances may be sent to collections.

 Members requesting financial assistance must fill out the attached form and provide all the information required. We need to be aware of your expenses so that we can provide financial assistance in a fair and consistent manner.
